Men and women are still not treated with equality in the society. Women earn less than men and a small amount of women are only employed for high paying jobs. Thus, women are being provided as many concessions as possible for women as a valiant attempt at reducing the inequality between the treatment of women and men in the society. One of these is provision of scholarships for women which is done mainly so that women are educated and given positions as leaders so that they can enter into the industries easily that is dominated by males. This is done so that they can have a very successful career and ultimately a very successful life. The main reason for provision of scholarships for women is that the reason of insufficient availability of funds should not be cited for hindering the progress of women.

Subjects that fall under the STEM, when chosen by women, fetch some scholarship opportunities. In other words, when women choose Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, they are given scholarships which help them in funding their education. The AAUW is a body that provides selected profession fellowships under particular professions for women and the scholarship is available for both the graduation and post graduation levels in the aforementioned fields. Women who want to pursue computer sciences, engineering, information sciences and architecture are given scholarships that range from $5000 to $20000. The engineering study is also financed by some scholarships provided by the Society of Women Engineers. There are many organizations and professional associations for who award scholarships for women. They award scholarships for women whose passions match their organizations aim. Some of the examples are AAUW and Society of Women Engineers. WCR is also an organization which aims at enhancement and promotion of women advancement, education and connection, though in the culinary field. WCR awards many internship and scholarship programs for its members. Also, there are many other organizations that give various scholarships and other opportunities for learning and education. However, the only thing is that the organization should be joined for availing many opportunities.
Loads of scholarships are now available to women, disadvantaged educationally owing to their minority position or status. Hispanic and black women are among them. The American Association of University Women’s provide Selected Professions Fellowships in favor of African American women in Law, Business, or Medicine, offering generous and competitive funds. Another organization that deserves special mention is the WorldStudio.org that is basically a nonprofit institution. This international arts institute strives to promote the education and work of the financially weaker and disadvantaged students. The Hispanic College Fund, United Negro College Fund and the Margaret MacNamara Memorial fund are also some of the initiatives to help women of minority status.
Special scholarships are available also for candidates who intend to return to school to obtain specialized skills or earn a degree. Talbots Women’s scholarship program is specifically aimed at women who have obtained a high school certification or diploma, however due to various reasons, could never attend college. Another such program, the AARP Foundation’s Women’s Scholarship initiative awards scholarships to candidates who have aged beyond 40 years though are still aspiring to obtain educational opportunities, new job skills, and training so as to be able to provide support for themselves and for their families.
